# ChatGPT

> Add Geniffy to ChatGPT on the web with developer mode, and make it the memory ChatGPT uses.

Geniffy works in ChatGPT on the web as a plugin you add with developer mode. Once connected, ChatGPT can
search your memory, answer from it with the line each fact came from, and save what you ask it to.

### 1. Turn on developer mode

Open the profile menu in the lower-left corner, then **Settings**, then **Plugins**. At the bottom, choose
**Developer mode** and turn it on.

### 2. Add Geniffy

Back in **Plugins**, choose **Browse plugins**, then the **+** button in the top-right corner. Fill in the
form:

| Field | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Name | `Geniffy` |
| Description | `My memory, with where each fact came from` |
| Connection | **Server URL** |
| URL | `https://api.geniffy.com/mcp` |

Leave **Advanced OAuth settings** as they are. Choose **I understand and want to continue**, then
**Create**.

### 3. Sign in and approve

Choose **Sign in with Geniffy**. Sign in, choose whether ChatGPT may also save, correct and forget, and press
**Allow**. Back in ChatGPT, choose **Try in chat**.

If you don't see developer mode, your plan or your workspace admin may not allow it yet.

## Make Geniffy ChatGPT's memory

ChatGPT keeps a memory of its own. To use Geniffy instead, so what you tell ChatGPT reaches every other app
you connect:

1. **Bring over what ChatGPT already knows.** In the Geniffy app, open
   [Import](https://geniffy.com/app/import) and choose ChatGPT: ask ChatGPT the one question it shows you,
   and paste the answer back.
2. **Turn off ChatGPT's own memory** in ChatGPT's settings. Your past chats are not deleted.
3. **Tell ChatGPT to use Geniffy.** Paste this into your custom instructions:

```text
Use Geniffy as my memory whenever its tools are available. Look there first before answering anything
about me, my work or the people I know, and save there what I ask you to remember.
```

## Disconnect

Remove Geniffy on ChatGPT's **Plugins** page, or disconnect ChatGPT in the Geniffy app under **Agents and
MCP**. Either one stops it at once, and nothing in your memory changes.
