# Claude Code

> Give Claude Code your memory with one command, for every project or for one, and sign in from the terminal.

Claude Code can read and add to your Geniffy memory while it works: your preferences, your team's decisions
and the conventions of each project, kept across sessions and machines.

### 1. Add the server

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http geniffy https://api.geniffy.com/mcp
```

Add `--scope user` to have Geniffy in every project, or `--scope project` to share it with your team through
the project's `.mcp.json`.

### 2. Sign in

In Claude Code, run `/mcp`, choose **geniffy**, then **Authenticate**. Your browser opens Geniffy: sign in and
press **Allow**. Claude Code connects from your computer, so the approval screen names it as an app on this
computer.

## Share it with your team

Checked in at the project's root, this gives everyone on the project the same server. Each person signs in
with their own Geniffy account and reaches only their own memory.

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "geniffy": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://api.geniffy.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

## Without a browser

In CI, on a server, or anywhere a browser cannot open, send a Geniffy API key instead. Make one under
**API keys** in the Geniffy app.

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http geniffy https://api.geniffy.com/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $GENIFFY_API_KEY"
```

With a key, every tool also takes an optional `space`, to work in the memory of one of your app's users.

## Building with Geniffy in Claude Code

The MCP server gives Claude Code your memory. To give your own app a memory, paste the
[agent prompt](https://docs.geniffy.com/agent-prompt) into Claude Code instead: it installs the SDK and wires memory into your code.
