# When nothing is known

> What context and ask return when nothing bears on the question.

`context()` and `ask()` share one judgement about whether anything stored bears on the question. When
nothing does:

- `context()` returns one sentence, `There is nothing stored about this yet. Say so rather than
guessing.`, and `empty` is true. Never an empty string: a model reads silence as permission to invent.
- `ask()` returns `answer` as null and a `message` saying so, for example `Nothing you have added says
that yet, so Geniffy won't guess.`

There is no strictness setting to tune. A threshold on a ranking that scores position is a number that is
right for one question and wrong for the next, so Geniffy makes the judgement itself, on each question.

Try any of the three against your own memory in the **Playground** in the Geniffy app, then take the exact
call with you.
